BS 7671 18th Edition & MCS Technical Standards: Mandatory for all solar PV electrical installations
All solar PV electrical work must comply with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition) and MCS Technical Standard MIS 3002. These standards cover DC and AC circuit design, cable sizing, protective device selection, earthing arrangements and testing requirements. Non-compliant installations cannot be MCS-certified, which means the homeowner loses eligibility for the Smart Export Guarantee and may invalidate their home insurance.
